REVISED PUBLIC NOTICE The Woodbridge Township Board of Education announces that the open public budget hearing will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Ross Street School #11, 110 Ross Street, Woodbridge, NJ. The Board may retire to Closed Session to discuss personnel matters. Formal action may be taken. Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 173, there may be capacity limits on the number of people who may attend this Board Meeting in-person in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. As a result, the meeting will be streamed live on Channel 35 and those residents who are unable to attend in-person may e-mail their public comments to superintendent@woodbridge.k12.nj.us until the end of the Meeting. Highlights from 3/16/21 Board Meeting: • Colonia Middle School collected over $750 & 2,000 lbs. of food for the Have a Heart Food Challenge • Bi-Annual HIBs reported for 7/1/20 thru 12/31/20 • Recognition to L. Zecchino for her heroic efforts during a house fire in Port Reading. • District in support of waiving the required ESSA testing • Approval of pilot e-Sports at Iselin Middle School • Approval of various professional development workshops • Anti-racism pledge to be adopted and circulated throughout the district. • Purchase of books ensuring diversification of lesson plans & activities. • Commend D. Johnson, from JFK HS, for being selected by the NJSIAA National Girls & Women in Sports as the outstanding female athlete for 2020-2021 • Submission of the tentative proposed 2021-2022 budget in the amount of $300,626,628. • Corrective actions on Audit Recommendations placed in effect. • Request County approval to transfer $700,000 to purchase laptops for all education staff members. • Submission of the ERIC North Grant Application for building security, safety, and safety equipment and training. • Excel Environmental Services contracted for consulting services related to the proposed new Avenel Elementary School • Payment of $489,350 to Apple, Inc., covering the remaining two year contract for proprietary Apple products. • Karbone, Inc. contracted for brokerage services related to SREC sales. • Resolution determining format & details of $37,718,000 school bonds, series 2021. • AECOM authorized to advertise and procure bids for the new Avenel Elementary School. • Hazmat Diagnostic LLC contracted for asbestos abatement services at School #18. • Commercial Interiors Direct contracted to furnish and install new flooring in the all purpose room at School #18. • Contract awarded to purchase 2021 Ford Explorer for the Security Office.

Families from Woodbridge Township School District's Title I schools recently participated in a virtual STEAM Family Workshop. A committee of teachers created tutorial videos to enable families to participate at their leisure. Photographs and videos were submitted documenting the fun families had doing science experiments, coding, creating artwork, inventing, and working on math projects. Highlights from 2/25/21 Board Meeting: • A waiver requesting postponement of the 2020-2021 QSAC monitoring. • Thirteen 7th graders participated in the Junior Youth in Government Day. • Eighteen district students selected as winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King Essay Contest. • Eleven district nurses volunteered to administer vaccines at the Township COVID Clinic. • Middlesex County Sheriff Officers conducted the DARE program at 8 elementary schools. • Supplemental books purchased for K-5 small group instruction. • Pilot programs approved: Social Media Marketing at JFK HS; and Theater Arts I & II at CHS. • Acceptance of The Comprehensive Financial Report for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2020 • Sale of accumulated Solar Renewals Energy Certificates (SRECS) • Application for the Arts In Education Residency Grant for new art at WMS • Submission of approval to the NJDOE for construction projects at School 25. • Disposal of property application to the NJDOE for property on W Cedar & Delaware Ave. • Approval of architectural services related to guidelines on Traffic Engineering and Historical Preservation at the planned site of the new School 4/5. • Approval of architectural services related to the partial roof replacement at CMS. • Bid awarded for district-wide HVAC upgrades. • Contract awarded for purchase of 2021 Ford F250 4x4 for the Transportation Dept.
