AMS Families,
Phase 2 Hybrid Instruction begins on Monday, October 12, 2020. Group A students will attend in-person classes on Mondays and Tuesdays (Remote W-F). Group B students will attend in-person classes on Thursdays and Fridays (Remote M-W). Group C (Fully Remote) students will continue remotely with no change to their schedule.
Student Arrival and Dismissal: The opening bell will ring at 7:40 am. It is at this time that students will enter the building. Dismissal is at 12:15 pm. Students are not permitted to stay after school and should not arrive before 7:35 am. Students should be dropped off at the designated locations in the front parking lot. We ask that you do not park and walk your child to the entry doors in the morning and please do not wait at the doors for dismissal. 6th grade students will enter Door #2 in the morning and exit Door #2 in the afternoon. 7th grade students will enter Door #3 in the morning and exit Door #3 in the afternoon. 8th grade students will enter Door #4 in the morning and exit Door #4 in the afternoon. It is strongly recommended that you set up a routine for dismissal.
Attendance Line: If your child is going to be absent from school a parent/guardian must call the 24-hour Attendance Line at (732) 596-4210. Please make certain to state your child’s name, grade, and reason for absence, please speak slowly and clearly. Please report it by 7:30 AM.
Covid Attestation Form/Face Masks: Each morning that your child is to attend school there is an attestation form that you MUST complete in Genesis. This form must be completed prior to 7:40 AM. The form is currently available for you to complete daily, if you do not complete it by 7:25 AM a reminder email/text will be sent to you. We ask that you begin to create the habit of completing this form, if you have not already started. If a student reports to school 3 times without filling out the attestation form, they will be moved to the fully remote group. Students will be required to wear a face mask while in school, not a shield or gaiter. Two masks are encouraged, one to wear and one as a backup.
School Issued Devices: 8th grade students are required to bring their iPads to school on in-person days. 6th and 7th grade students are required to bring their Chromebooks to school on in-person days. If an in-person 6th or 7th grade student has not yet been issued a Chromebook, they will receive it during the Week of 10/12/20. Students will no longer be permitted to bring personal devices.
Food Services: Lunch will be distributed at dismissal along with a breakfast for the next day in a paper bag at the assigned dismissal doors. Meal distribution for those in-person will be a grab and go process and should be eaten at home, not on the bus or along the way home. Meals will be distributed as students exit the building. All students are currently eligible for meals.
Locker Regulations/PE: Students will NOT be given a hallway or physical education locker this year. Students will participate in physical activities in gym classes. Students will NOT be changing their clothes and MUST be dressed appropriately (clothing and sneakers) to participate on days they have gym.
Backpacks: Students will be encouraged to carry backpacks this year.
Water: Students are permitted to carry a water bottle during the school day. Glass is not permitted. Students can ONLY bring water, no other drinks are permitted.
Thank you for your support, as we begin the next phase of our school year.
Be safe and stay #avenelstrong.

AMS Families,
-Beginning on Monday, October 5th students will no longer have to log their daily attendance using the Google links on the AMS website. Student daily attendance will be logged in Genesis by the Block 1 teachers. Any updates on daily attendance should be emailed to our attendance secretaries:
kelly.henry@woodbridge.k12.nj.us
and
maryann.miller@woodbridge.k12.nj.us
-Beginning on Monday, October 5th parents/guardians of Group A and Group B students will be required to complete and submit the daily Covid-19 attestation each morning by 7:40 AM in the Genesis Parent Portal. This will allow you to familiarize yourself with the process and allow us to monitor compliance during the week, in preparation for in-person instruction.
-Beginning on Monday, October 12th you will only be required to complete the attestation on days that your child is physically attending school, no later than 7:40 AM. If a student reports to school without a completed attestation, they will be screened and miss class time. If a student has a fever, they will remain isolated until a parent/guardian arrives. Please check to make sure all of your emergency contacts are up to date in Genesis.
-A Message from Guidance Counselor, Ms. Wronski:
To celebrate next week’s Week of Respect, students will be visiting Ms. Wronski’s Google site each day to complete the daily activities. There will be a daily activity, along with a short reflection question via Google Forms. Please encourage your child to participate in these activities. There will be prompts for them to wear different color clothing to signify each day of the week. We look forward to a great virtual Week of Respect this year!

AMS Families,
We continue preparing for the transition to Phase 2 of the Woodbridge Township School District Re-entry Plan, which will take place on Monday, October 12, 2020. The AMS faculty and staff have been working hard to ensure that we are providing a quality virtual instructional experience for your child. Please carefully review the information below:
- The confirmation email was sent earlier this month, in regards to each child’s assigned cohort grouping.
- Today, September 28th and continuing through Friday, October 9th ALL instructional days will be fully remote with live instruction. There will be NO asynchronous days for these two weeks.
- Monday, October 12th begins the first day of in-person instruction and the start of Phase 2 of the WTSD Re-entry Plan, students in Group A will attend school on Monday/Tuesday and students in Group B will attend school on Thursday/Friday. All students will attend school virtually on Wednesdays. The teaching schedule and block times will not differ from what you have been doing thus far. Office hours will begin each day at 12:50 PM, virtually.
- Remember students are required to attend each course daily and remain present for the duration of the time the course meets.
- Beginning on Monday, October 12th parents/guardians are required to complete and submit the Daily Covid-19 Questionnaire in the Genesis Parent Portal (THIS IS ONLY REQUIRED ON DAYS THAT YOUR CHILD IS PHYSICALLY ATTENDING SCHOOL). The purpose of this form is to attest that your child is safe to enter the building each day, it is important that all parents familiarize themselves with this tool.
- As we look forward to students returning to AMS, it is important to remain vigilant in maintaining social distance, wearing a mask while indoors, and washing/sanitizing hands.
Thank you.
Be safe and stay #avenelstrong.
