Mr. Leusen is a proud graduate of Woodbridge Township, graduating from Woodbridge High School in 1997.

Mr. Leusen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature Degree from Ramapo College in 2001. He was hired in the fall of 2001 to teach English at Woodbridge High School. While teaching at Woodbridge High School, Mr. Leusen also had the opportunity to coach football and basketball. In the winter of 2010, he earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Kean University.

In September of 2010 Mr. Leusen was promoted to English Department Chair at Colonia High School. After a brief stay at Colonia High School, Mr. Leusen was promoted to a Supervisory position in the WTSD. He spent the following three years serving as the Supervisor of Secondary English and District Test Coordinator.

In June of 2014 Mr. Leusen was named Vice Principal of Avenel Middle School, where he spent three years assisting in the implementation of various technology and character education initiatives.

The past 5 years Mr. Leusen had the honor of serving as Principal at Pennsylvania Avenue School #27. During his time at Penn. Ave. #27, Mr. Leusen worked closely with the staff on various academic and social emotional programs to enhance the culture and climate of the school.

In May of 2022, Mr. Leusen was appointed Principal of Avenel Middle School.
