AMS Families,
Per Dr. Zega's letter, all WTSD schools - including Avenel Middle School will be fully remote until Tuesday, January 19, 2021. There will be no changes to our current schedule. Although we wish we could be in the building together, we will continue to provide the best possible remote instruction.
As we begin Marking Period 2, we strongly encourage you to require that your child show their face during live lessons. Students are more likely to be engaged in the lesson that is being delivered and less likely to be distracted when fully participating. Students are expected to be on time and stay for the entire period each school day. Students are expected to turn in assignments on time and in accordance with teacher guidelines.
I am so proud of our students and the entire AMS community. As always, thank you for your continued support and cooperation during these challenging times.
Be safe and stay #avenelstrong.

November 9, 2020
Dear Avenel Middle School Families:
As you know, today, November 9, 2020, has been a fully remote instructional day so we can assess our staff to determine if hybrid instruction is possible moving forward.
After careful consideration, we have determined that we have a large number of staff who will need to quarantine due to close contact or due to travel. As a result, we will not be able to offer hybrid instruction until at least Monday, November 23rd. The need to quarantine for those individuals is a must. Please keep in mind that symptoms can occur for a period of 14 days after contact with an infected individual. Regardless of having a Negative Covid-19 test result, the individual must still quarantine.
Our teachers will continue to provide fully remote instruction. The date listed above is an anticipated date. However, should conditions change, we will be sending more information as we receive it.
Those families who are participating in the meal distribution program will still be able to pick up those meals at any school.
We ask that in turn our families continue to monitor their children daily for symptoms of the virus, as well as keeping the school informed in the event symptoms develop within your household.
We will continue to work as a community to ensure that continuity of remote instruction is provided during this difficult time for all. Our district will also continue to apply the best practices and recommendations of the Woodbridge Health Department in school events that bring our community together, helping to ensure the safety of all.
Be safe and stay #avenelstrong.
