Avenel Middle School 8th Grade Families,
I am pleased to announce that all 8th grade students will be receiving their iPad this week.
As stated in the Acceptable User Agreement, Woodbridge Township School District is committed to the integration of technology into student learning so that all students are prepared for the challenges presented in high school, college, and career.
Below are some key points for students and families:
Bring your fully-charged device and your charger to school each day; take them home each afternoon.
Remember to fully-charge your device every evening at home.
Your device must always remain in its case. Do not attempt to remove the case under any circumstances.
Stickers, writing, painting or any other form of decoration are not permitted on cases or devices.
Be careful when placing your device/charger in your backpack. Never place our device inside of a backpack that contains liquids, food, heavy objects or sharp objects.
Do not throw your backpack while your device is inside. Gently place your backpack on bus/car seats, on tables/desks, on the floor/ground, etc.
Do not eat or drink while using your device. Spills can cause damage.
Clean your device with a damp, soft cloth when needed. Disinfectant wipes can be used. Do not use household spray cleaners or window cleaners.
Take caution when plugging/unplugging power cord, headphones, mouse, etc. to protect device ports.
Remember that your device is borrowed school property and does not belong to you. All activity is monitored by the District and you are responsible for adhering to all District policies regarding acceptable use of your device.
Report any problem immediately to your teacher. Mr. Caldwell and Mrs. Tulloch (AMS Tech Team) will assist you and are available to answer any questions regarding your device:
scott.caldwell@woodbridge.k12.nj.us
samantha.tulloch@woodbridge.k12.nj.us
Although we teach students proper care of the device, there are times when the device may be damaged. The district has contracted with an insurance company to help offset the costs for these repairs. However, part of the repair costs is the responsibility of the family. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for the repair co-pay if the device is damaged.
1st incident in a school year: $20.00
Each additional incident in a school year: $50.00
The loss or damage beyond repair of an iPad, and/or power cord, is the responsibility of the parent, as these are not covered in our insurance policy.
$40.00 for power cord replacement
$329.00 for unit replacement
Thank you for your continued support.

AMS Parents & Guardians,
The Avenel Middle School Open House will be held this, Wednesday, September 15th beginning at 6:30 pm. Please enter through Door #20. You will be reporting directly to your child's Block 1 class location. The schedule will run as follows:
Welcome Remarks (6:45 - 6:55 pm)
Block 1 (7:00 - 7:15 pm)
Block 2 (7:20 - 7:35 pm)
Block 3 (7:40 - 7:55 pm)
Block 4 (8:00 - 8:15 pm)
You will be following your child’s daily schedule for four blocks lasting 15 minutes each. During this time teachers will discuss their particular subject area and outline course expectations for the 2021-2022 school year. If you need to schedule an individual parent/teacher conference, please see your child’s guidance counselor. Additional parking is available on Woodbine Ave. and at School #23. Parking along yellow painted curbs is not permitted by local fire regulations. To limit the number of people in the building, we are encouraging only one parent/guardian to attend.
Masks are required at this event.
Please bring a copy of your child's schedule to follow. It is available in the Genesis Parent Access Portal. If you need a copy of your child’s schedule, it will be available in the cafeteria. Students/children should NOT be attending this event. We look forward to seeing you here at AMS!
