Kennedy Park School #24 Health & Wellness Update

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This is the time of year that many children are out ill.  If your child exhibits any symptoms of sickness, such as fever (100 or over), vomiting, multiple episodes of diarrhea, excessive coughing, or constant nose drainage, we ask that you keep them home so as not to facilitate the spread of germs.

Please remember that if your child vomits or has a fever (100 or over) they need to stay home for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medicine before returning to school.  When calling in to report your child absent please indicate the reason for the absence (fever, coughing, runny nose, going to the doctor, etc).  If you have any questions on whether or not to send your child to school, please consult your doctor or the school nurse. Please try to review healthy hygiene habits at home with your children. I go into the classrooms, review handwashing, and other ways to stay healthy with the kids.

Our school attendance is checked every day and cases of the flu are on the rise. The symptoms of the flu include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, and fatigue.  These symptoms can last from a few days to a week or more.  Please do not send your child back to school before they are ready to be back.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation during these cold and flu months.

Stay Connected:  Join the Nurse Remind Page.  It is an alternate way they we can communicate with each other, besides the phone or email.  If I can be of any assistance please contact me.  Thank you for being proactive in helping us to keep Kennedy Park a safe and healthy place to learn.

Sincerely,

Kristine Rapczynski
