Language Arts

“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

Reading and writing are critical components to our everyday lives. Our district is committed to reaching each and every student and his unique learning style through our Language Arts curriculum.

The Journeys program has been implemented in grades 1-5. It is a comprehensive program that incorporates and meets the Common Core standards through reading and writing instruction. Journeys also has a technology piece which provides online materials and student access. Teachers are able to teach through whole group, small group, or individual instruction. Students are able to practice and learn through these mediums as well. Instruction is varied and differentiated to meet the needs of the learners.

The Journeys program coupled with strong teacher instruction will help us to reach all of our students. As the Acting Supervisor of Reading and Writing K-5, I am committed to reaching each student and maximizing his or her potential. The goal is to create independent readers and writers who can thrive and survive in our fast-paced, ever-changing society.

With a partnership between school and home, we can make learning to read and write a fun and meaningful experience for all of our students!
