Mr. Thomas Leusen

Greetings Pennsylvania Avenue School Community,

It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Principal of Pennsylvania Avenue School #27. We have a rich tradition of excellence at Pennsylvania Avenue School; a tradition I'm confident we'll enhance by working together. I look forward to an exciting and outstanding 2019-2020 school year. Our theme for the entire Pennsylvania Avenue School community is: T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More.

Bio: Mr. Thomas Leusen, Principal

Pennsylvania Avenue School

Mr. Leusen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from Ramapo College in 2001. He was hired in the fall of 2001 to teach English at Woodbridge High School. While teaching at Woodbridge High School, Mr. Leusen also had the opportunity to coach football and basketball. In the winter of 2010 he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Kean University.

In September of 2010 Mr. Leusen was promoted to English Department Chair at Colonia High School. After a brief stay at Colonia High School, Mr. Leusen was promoted to a Supervisory position in the Woodbridge Township School District. He spent the following three years serving as the Supervisor of Secondary English and District Test Coordinator.

In June of 2014 Mr. Leusen was named Vice Principal of Avenel Middle School, where he spent three years assisting in the implementation of various technology and character education initiatives.

On August 17, 2017 Mr. Leusen was appointed Principal of Pennsylvania Avenue School. He resides in the Leonardo section of Middletown, with his wife and three children.
