To Celebrate Black History Month, Colonia High School wants to spotlight the accomplishments of African Americans throughout history. Earlier this week on February 24th at the age of 101, Katherine Johnson, a former NASA mathematician and one of the subjects of the film Hidden Figures passed away. Her contributions to NASA were instrumental in completing the moon landing. Due to the technological limitations of the time, Johnson used nothing more than a pencil and her own mind to complete the complex calculations necessary to determine the trajectories for the Apollo 11 mission.
