Sketchbook Assignments*all sketchbook assignments are assigned on Monday's and due at the end of the same week, unless specified.SB #1: Black & White Design: Using only simple geometric shapes (circles, squares, rectangles & triangles) create an interesting composition with a focal point. Fill in each shape with lines, patterns and/or shading techniques. Medium:pencilDue:SB #2: Texture: choose 3 everyday objects with texture. Examples could be the shell of a peanut, leaf, pineapple, etc. Use a pencil and recreate that image in your sketchbook. Do not forget that textures have many shades and values!Due:SB #3: Eye Study: Find 4 different eyes in magazines. Cut them out & glue them to your sketchbook page. Draw the eyes underneath the picture with a FULL range of shading. Medium: pencils or colored pencilsDue:SB #4: Choose a small object that you find in the art room. Place it on top of a mirror and take a photo. Draw the picture with the object and it’s reflection. Be sure to add lighting and shadows. Size: Entire PageDue:SB#5: Search a newspaper for an article with a NOUN in the title you can use for a mixed media sketchbook assignment. (Example- “Flight” in a title; use a plane) Cut/ rip out the article and glue it into your sketchbook. Using pencil, create a drawing on TOP of the newspaper article that relates to the chosen word. Choose a member of your family. Ask them for 4 things they enjoy (can be food, places, pets, activities, flowers, etc)
Draw that family member’s name. SHADE IT. Draw the 4 objects. SHADE THEM. Space out your images and draw them large to fill up your paper.
Slice open a piece of fruit or vegetable. Set the two pieces next to each other. Draw the skin side of the food AND the inside. Shade your project and pay attention to the details of texture on the skin AND the inside. Size: ½ Page.
Due:SB #8-Portrait Study. Take a photo of a face and GLUE it into your sketchbook. Using ONLY LINES to shade, create a value drawing of the face you printed.Due:SB #9: Choose 5 objects that show either rhythm or movement. (May be both). Draw the 5 objects, completed with shading, to fill one whole sketchbook page. (All 5 on one page)Due:SB#10: Create a collage of line drawings of at least 5 things you are grateful for. These do not have to be shaded.
