Welcome to Theater Arts Oratory                                                                                                                            Mrs. Platko

Rules:  If you follow the rules of this classroom, we will all have an enjoyable semester.

    1. Be on time!  You must be in your seat BY the bell to be counted as present.

    2. Be prepared with your notebook, readings/worksheets, and something to write with. If you are not prepared, your participation grade will suffer!

    3. You MUST participate in all class activities.  This class requires a lot of moving around and group/partner work.  Do not be shy!

    4. Bathroom Rules:  Hand me your cell phone.  Fill out the clipboard sheet and take it with you.  You cannot go to the bathroom during instruction, during the first 5 minutes of class, during the last 5 minutes of class, or during passing for lunch.

    5. No food or drink in my classroom.  You may bring plain water to class.

    6. Cell Phone/Electronic Device policy: No classroom use unless given permission.

      • Unauthorized use offense #1 = Phone stays on my desk for the block.

      • Unauthorized use offense #2 = Phone is confiscated and turned into the office with a discipline form.

    7. Be respectful of the teacher and other students in the class.  No cursing, derogatory language, or offensive comments will be tolerated!

    8. Do not speak when someone else is talking, be disruptive during speeches, or distract others.  Give them the same respect you would want during your own speech.

    9. DO NOT criticize or talk negatively about any speech presentation given by your peers.

    10. You must remain in the seating area until the bell rings, do not venture past my desk towards the door.

    • Late Work:  Depending on the assignment, you will be given one extra day to make up the work for a 10 point deduction.  After that, it is a ZERO.

    • If you are absent, it is up to YOU to find out what you missed.  All makeup work will be placed with your name on it in the appropriate folder on the bulletin board behind my desk.

    • Regular attendance is EXTREMELY important in a class such as this one.  This class will work in partners and in groups, so everyone is needed here on a daily basis.  Each person’s participation is VITAL to the success of the group.  Please make every effort to limit your absences in this class.
