FMS 2015 - 2016 CHANGES

Fords Middle School is moving away from a 4 period, 83 minute, Block Schedule to a 8 period, 46 minute, Interdisciplinary Team approach.  The main purpose is to implement a schedule that is designed to support the assignment of both students and teachers into team structures that promote the delivery of an interdisciplinary curriculum.

Major Benefits of a Team Approach are as follows:

  • The ability of teachers to identify and address individual learner problems.

  • Increased teacher planning and collaboration.

  • Greater ability to develop interdisciplinary curriculum that connects content from all disciplines.

  • Enhanced ability to monitor student growth and progress.

  • Develop a greater sense of community and camaraderie among staff and students.

  • Ability for staff to meet and conference with parents/guardians as a collective group.
