Accreditation for Growth (AFG)

Woodbridge High School strives to achieve and maintain high standards of education. As such, the school participates in the Middle States Association’s Accreditation for Growth (AFG). Accreditation is the confirmation that a school provides a quality of education that the community has a right to expect and the education world endorses. Accreditation is a means of showing confidence in a school's performance and provides a level of accountability to the community it serves.

During the 2007-2008 school year, a committee of teachers at Woodbridge High School worked diligently in accordance with the Middle States Association’s Accreditation for Growth (AFG) process in order to receive accreditation. The overall goal of the AFG process is to improve student performance by setting long-range goals and meeting twelve standards established by the Middle States Association.

With accreditation granted in the spring of 2008, the process is not concluded. The school, as a whole, and the planning committee in particular began to address the many components of our action plans. The plans outline specific time frames for which we are to meet our goals. To see the specific action plans you are encouraged to view them below.

What is Accreditation for Growth?
Accreditation is the affirmation that a school provides a quality of education that the community has a right to expect and the education world endorses. Accreditation is a means of showing confidence in a school's performance. When the Commission on Secondary Schools accredits a school, it certifies that the school has met the prescribed qualitative standards of the Middle States Association within the terms of the school's own stated philosophy and objectives.
The AFG protocol focuses on student performance by using strategic planning as a vehicle for school improvement and growth in student performance. In choosing the AFG protocol, the school makes these commitments:

Focus on student performance and growth
Accountability in student performance
Long-term strategic action plans that integrate program, services, facilities and other support systems to address needs
Commitment to continuous improvement
Involvement of all stakeholders
