To our parents and citizens of Woodbridge Township:
Welcome to the home of the Barrons!
Please look through our web site and familiarize yourself with the many accomplishments of our students. Learn about our curriculum, school activities and our wonderful staff, keeping in mind that this web site has been produced and maintained solely by our Web Design students.
We continue to offer HSPA assistance programs in Math and English such as the 20/20 Program which takes place before, during and after school. Other tutoring opportunities include Athletic Study Hall, the Math/English Tutorial Club and the National Honor Society Peer Tutors.
WHS Juniors will pilot the Study Island program, a provider of web-based state assessment preparation with lessons and practice tests based on the Content Standards and specifically designed for the NJ HSPA. Study Island covers every Standard that will be tested on the HSPA and enables students to interact with thousands of questions, then automatically and instantly grades and records all student work. In addition, users are able to print custom workbooks. The question style on Study Island is similar to the style on the actual HSPA. This allows students to become comfortable with the testing style; therefore, test-taking mistakes will be reduced and scores will improve.
Woodbridge High School students continue to participate in a wealth of community-related clubs and activities to foster communication between school and the public. Some of these are the “Teddy Bear’s Closet”, which donates baby supplies to women in shelters, “Relay for Life”, blood drives, and “Empty Bowls” which supports a local food pantry and reminds us of the world hunger problem.
Our Guidance Department, in addition to hosting a College Fair of over
80 institutions, has increased the number of college visits and resources,
reaching out to the parents and the community to better serve our students
and prepare them in their post-graduate plans. Our counselors have increased
their accessibility in the hallways, cafeterias, during homeroom and throughout
the school day to better meet the individual needs of our students.
The school year brought about the conclusion of the many upgrades and improvements to our school building and grounds, including our new track, bathrooms and heating system. In athletics, some of our feats include the Girls’ Soccer Team winning the White Division Championship and the Girls’ Track Team receiving the Sportsmanship Award. In the area of extra-curricular activities, our students have provided food baskets for needy families during Thanksgiving, collected Toys for Tots, and our award winning chorus has performed at numerous community functions. Academically, we have a record sixteen Bloustein Distinguished Scholar recipients this school year. We are continuing our “20/20” HSPA program, which offers tutorial assistance to juniors before, during, and after school in preparation for the HSPA testing in March. In addition, Internet Safety plays an important role in the education of our students, with assemblies and programs in the classrooms. These are just a few of the wonderful things happening at Woodbridge High School and we hope that you will take the time to read about all that makes us proud to be “Barrons”.
Go Barrons!
