Service-Learning Projects
Students, Faculty, Staff, and the Community working together for a common cause fosters a productive and harmonious environment where everyone benefits. This mutual involvement enables all participants to gain an appreciation of each contribution and promote an evironment where there is an even greater desire to help one another. It truly enhances each individual's self-esteem and further demonstrates that at Kennedy High School "Respect Is Contagious."

| F.A.C.E. and French Immersion Project | French Honor Society and F.A.C.E. Club presented a basic conversational French lesson to 210 eighth-grade students at Iselin Middle School |
| Click Away En Francais | French Honor Society members combine language and technology skills in a unique e-mail pen pal partnership with a high school in Lucon, France. Students exchanged notes of sympathy over recent terrorist attacks in US and abroad. |
| Backpacks for Abused Children | WTEA sponsored event |
| French/Veterans Connection | French Honor Society members created Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day cards in French for the Veterans in a local Veterans' Home as well as for veterans in Montreal, Canada. One student completed an original project using the Braille-lite machine to create holiday cards for sight-impaired veterans. |
| Can of Soup Drive | French students collaborated with Spanish students to continue the Can of Soup Drive to benefit the needy families in Woodbridge Township. |
| Woodbridge Township Choral Festival | JFK partners with the township's sister schools to host a concert for the community. The money collected from admission and food sales is donated to the Woodbridge Township Arts Coalition, which provides scholarships to the District's Arts students. |
| Conquer Cancer Basketball Series | Joint project with CHS and WHS - This project complements the health classes' study of cancer. In addition, athletic departments sold boosters and t-shirts to raise over $1600 for the American Cancer Society. |
| Community Egg Hunt | Concert Choir hosted an egg hunt for children and adults of the community. |
| Cemetery Restoration and Remembrance | Students enrolled in Satire read "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The students visited and cleaned up Icabod Crane's burial site. This has evolved into an interdisciplinary project including Woodshop, G&T, Satire, Law and Society, and Special Education. |
| Empty Bowls | Interdisciplinary project including English, Math, Foods, Journalism, and Business. |
| Valentine's Day Cards for Senior Cititzens | Student Council Members designed and created Valentine's Day cards for Woodbridge Township Senior Citizens. |
| Student/Veteran Social | Student Council members visited the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. |
| Community Blood Drive | Sponsored by the National Honor Society |
| Pen Pal Project | Students enrolled in Sociology classes have established a pen pal relationship with grade 5 students from School #24 and with Senior Citizens from Cooper Towers. |
| March of Dimes Walk America | Student Council has organized a team from JFK to participate in Walk America in April. |
| Parade for Santa's Arrival | JFK High School Marching Band at Woodbridge Center Mall |
| Cystic Fibrosis Walk | Peer Leadership raised donations and walked Merill Park in the "Make Strides Against Cystic Fibrosis." |
| Dare Programs | Peer Leaders partner with elementary schools. |
| Spanish Workship at School #24 | Spanish Honor Society conducted a workshop on the Spanish Language for 2nd and 3rd grade students at School #24. |
| Pancakes With Santa | Peer Leadership hosts a pancake breakfast with Santa for the community. |
| Walk Against Diabetes | Peer Leadership and National Honor Society will raise donations and participate in the "Walk Against Diabetes." |
| Dance Boxes For Woodbridge School of Dance | Woodshop students constructed 10 boxes to be donated to the Woodbridge School of Dance for various dance programs. |
| Middlesex Cultural and Heritage Commission Project | Students enrolled in Fashions and Needlecrafts constructed storage bags for musical instruments and footwear from around the world. The instruments and footwear are a part of a traveling exhibit that visits schools to inform and increase cultural awareness and sensitivity. |
