The mission of Menlo Park Terrace School is to provide an excellent educational program and learning environment. We stress academic skills and good citizenship and value the diverse cultures and backgrounds of our students. We strive to develop life-long learners who are responsible citizens prepared for their next level of school.

Our instructional program is shared by all Woodbridge Township elementary schools. All curricula are aligned with the state Core Curriculum Standards and support the Workplace Readiness Standards. It provides opportunities for students to acquire a strong foundation of knowledge and skill in the core academic areas of mathematics, social studies, science, health, physical education, library, guidance, world languages, vocal music, art and instrumental music. Our Language Arts program integrates reading, writing, listening, viewing, spelling, phonics and handwriting. In our primary grades, our Fundamentals First program focuses on literacy and numeracy.

In addition, in order to meet the learning needs of each student we have incorporated the Schools Attuned program. Developed by Dr. Mel Levine and the School of Education, at the University of North Carolina. Schools Attuned provides students, parents and teachers with new methods for recognizing, understanding and managing the diverse learning styles of students. To meet our students’ special needs we offer Academic Support instruction in reading and math, speed a Gifted and Talented program and special education services. We also have an Intervention and Referral Services Committee to assist children who are struggling in school. We also have many special programs that enrich our students’ school experience. Family Math, Family Writing, Family Science and PAL’s Program as well as our track team, Honor Roll, Homework Club, Student Council, Safety Patrol, vocal and instrumental music concerts, and D.A.R.E. program all contribute to a rich educational experience.

Our active PTA provides assemblies, special educational opportunities and volunteers’ support that enhances to entire school program.

The community relationships that we have developed continue to be an important part of the success we enjoy at Menlo Park Terrace School. We reach out with many activities and opportunities that involve these community partnerships enhancing the life-long learning of our children.

We are proud of the rich educational tradition that has been initiated and continues to grow at Menlo Park Terrace School and look forward to our future efforts encouraging children to be the best that they can be.
